M6 Bed Warehouse Opens Third Cheshire Showroom in Macclesfield

Independent family-run retailer The M6 Bed Warehouse has opened a new showroom in Macclesfield, marking the latest stage in a Cheshire business story spanning almost three decades.

Situated opposite B&Q Macclesfield, the showroom is the company’s third location, joining its established stores in Alsager and Northwich.

While M6 Beds is now firmly associated with beds, mattresses and sleep expertise, the family’s retail roots in Cheshire go back to the late 1990s, when founder Jeff first went into business in Holmes Chapel. The business has evolved considerably since those early days, but its emphasis on personal service, product knowledge and building relationships with local customers has remained.

The move into Macclesfield continues that Cheshire connection and reflects the steady growth of the business in recent years.

The new showroom brings together beds and mattresses from manufacturers including Sealy, Sleepeezee, Harrison Spinks and Enchanted House. Customers are able to try products in person and speak to the team for advice - something that remains particularly relevant in a sector where comfort and individual preference can be difficult to judge online.

Louis Mitchell, Director of The M6 Bed Warehouse, said: “Opening our third showroom is a really exciting milestone for the business. We’ve learned a huge amount from opening Northwich and have used that experience to create what we believe is our best showroom yet.

“Macclesfield was a natural choice for us. It’s a fantastic retail location with a strong local community, and we’re excited to bring our approach to the area.”

The opening comes at a time when M6 Beds is also gaining wider recognition within the industry. The company has been shortlisted for the National Bed Federation Medium Retail Champion of the Year Award, following its success in winning the Small Retail Champion Award last year.

The move from the small to medium retailer category is itself an indication of how the business has developed, while retaining its independent and family-run identity.

Louis added: “To progress from winning the Small Retail Champion Award last year to being recognised again this year is fantastic recognition for our whole team.”

Alongside its showrooms, the company offers services including free delivery and the recycling of customers’ old beds and mattresses.

For M6 Beds, Macclesfield represents both a new beginning and something of a return to familiar territory. From its early retail roots in Holmes Chapel to showrooms across Cheshire today, the business has grown and adapted while remaining closely connected to the communities it serves.

Nearly 30 years on, the products and locations may have changed, but the family-run ethos behind the business remains very much part of its identity.
