As summer turns to autumn, the Northern Girls artist collective warmly invites art lovers to their upcoming exhibition, taking place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th and Friday 9th to Sunday 11th October 2026, 10am-4pm, upstairs at Clonterbrook Gallery, Swettenham Heath, Cheshire.
Northern Girls is a group of Cheshire-based professional artists comprising Allie Pottinger, Zelda Pickup, Alison Stafford, Di Metcalfe, Ginny McDermott and Kate Fawcett. Over the past six years, the collective has exhibited their diverse yet complementary work on many occasions, gaining a loyal following drawn to their individual styles and shared passion for art.
Allie Pottinger, a watercolour artist based in Swettenham Heath, creates colourful landscapes, florals and paintings of fresh produce celebrating the seasons and natural world. She also runs friendly watercolour workshops and regularly exhibits and sells at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London.
Zelda Pickup, based near Macclesfield, creates colourful semi-abstract landscapes and still life paintings, primarily in oils. Her distinctive paintings often distort perspective and combine elements to form composite pieces. Her work is held in collections across the UK and Europe.
Alison Stafford is an award-winning abstract landscape artist working from her Clonterbrook studio, where she also runs popular workshops. Her paintings are emotional responses to landscape, with a particular focus on expressive colour. Alison has recently exhibited with leading national art societies, including the RBA and RI.
Poynton-based Di Metcalfe works with oils over acrylics and inks, often using a palette knife to create richly textured surfaces. Her distinctive work has attracted collectors, commissions and ongoing sales through exhibitions and The Lion Gallery, Hay-On-Wye.
Ginny McDermott produces atmospheric landscapes and townscapes in oils and acrylics. Her work has been exhibited and sold at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and she continues to sell from her Macclesfield studio and Bollington’s Northern Exposure Gallery.
Kate Fawcett, based in Macclesfield, is known for her experimental, energetic approach. Using unconventional tools and found objects, she builds texture through sanding, scraping and collage. Her work has been selected for the RBA exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
Together, the Northern Girls offer a rich and varied exhibition of landscapes, abstract works, still life and mixed media. Visitors can meet the artists, view original artwork and experience the creative energy of this established Cheshire collective.
