Well, that’s January out of the way for another year, although I’m not convinced February is much better.
Sorry, I know that’s not the cheeriest of openings, but I’ve always found the second month of the year to be a struggle, not least because I turn one year older (I’d argue this is the worst month for a birthday, as everyone is still skint from Christmas and no one fancies going out to celebrate) and it’s usually still freezing cold without having the benefit of being ‘festive’.
But, for any romantics out there, February has one saving grace, Valentine’s Day. And, if you are still lucky enough to have affection, devotion and, dare I say it, passion in your life, you can do a lot worse than Sandbach for your Valentine’s Day inspiration. Having carried out literally seconds of research online, I’ve determined that nearly all the most popular Valentine’s Day presents can be purchased within our town.
For example, we have a host of quality restaurants and bars offering special offers and menus for the big night, although with it falling on a Friday this year, you’d be wise to book early. Alternatively, you could always place a call to one of the many excellent takeaways we have dotted around, to enjoy a delicious meal for two in the comfort of your own home. As a bonus, there’s no need to get dolled up (or even dressed at all!).
Then, if you’re thinking of buying traditional gifts, you usually can’t go wrong with flowers (we have florists), jewellery (we have jewellers), chocolates, candles and pampering bath kits (we have gift shops and supermarkets).
You could also buy your loved one a book if they enjoy a good read, a bottle of wine if they enjoy a good drink, or a fragrance if you happen to think they could occasionally smell better than they already do. All of which can be found within Sandbach’s array of shops.
Alternatively, you could treat your significant other to an authentic Thai massage (or a session for both of you) if you feel they might need to de-stress or unwind. Indeed, this could even be tied in with an authentic Thai meal over the road, should the mood take you. Although, be careful not to refer to such a thoughtful gesture as wanting to ‘Thai your partner up’ because this can easily be misunderstood.
That said, if you are still young and agile enough to be expecting ‘intimate relations’ this Valentine’s Day, we even have our own lingerie shop here in Sandbach, for anyone feeling either extremely optimistic or extremely amorous.
Finally, if you happen to be single, just be sure to love yourself.
